Oklahoma Filmmakers Propose Marland Documentary

Oklahoma filmmakers Steve Herrin and Scott Swearingen talked to docents at the Marland Mansion at their semi-annual dinner and announced that they hope to begin work soon on a documentary about the life of E.W. Marland and his wife Lydie.

Tulsa Producer Swearingen has 30-years experience in educational and documentary videos. His productions include “Thomas Gilcrease: The Man and the Museum,” a 10-minute documentary exploring the life and work of the Gilcrease Museum founder, “101 Ranch: The Real Wild West” a five part series of 10-minute documentaries featured in an exhibit of Ranch artifacts and used for outreach to area schools, and “With the Grain: The Life and Art of Willard Stone” a 30-minute documentary, featured in an exhibit of his sculpture.

In preparation for the documentary, the filmmakers have already shot 30 minutes of footage of an interview with C. D. Northcutt.
